Chocolate Almond Mousse Cake - Mmmmmarvelous...

I have a ridiculous cookbook collection... Looking through the books on my shelf makes me a hopeless optimist. I’ve been saving this recipe to try from Marguerite Henderson’s “Small Parties” - and it was worth the wait. (I’ve wanted to take a class from her forever, and someday I’ll do that. I am a HILLBILLY COOK compared to her gourmet expertise!)

My excuse to make this was for a birthday treat for my dear friend Barbara. ...But she wasn’t home! So what’s a person to do?! (Sorry Barbara - I’ll bring you a slice soon)

“...prepare to die” This line from one of my favorite movies The Princess Bride is what came to my mind as I took my first bite of this absolutely heavenly dessert. Sometimes I rationalize that I deserve something this loaded with smooth, creamy chocolate. A thin sliver is all I need (per hour, that is). Save this for when you want to spoil yourself (or someone special)
