Doughnut Muffins - bakery taste, with your own personal touch...

Sugar doughnuts are indescribably delicious - and at first bite, you will think you accidentally picked doughnuts up at the bakery. Moist, tender, with just a hint of nutmeg... you will have to pinch yourself to see if you are dreaming... These are a nice accompaniment for a light brunch, or they also go well with fruit in a buffet.

Over the last several months, I’ve seen many variations of these “muffins” featured on many food sites - so my curiosity forced me to try them. I narrowed the recipes down to two - and this one came out on top.

This recipe is different from standard muffin batter. The addition of heavy cream really makes a big difference - they almost melt in your mouth. And real butter, (both in the muffin itself, and used to "dip" the tops into before rolling in sugar) makes these even better.
