Death By Chocolate (what a way to die...)

With Father’s Day coming - you might be looking for an awesome dessert to go along with Dad’s favorite meal.  Most men don’t require fru-fru desserts - just something sweet and rich.  But I doubt any woman would pass this up either (after all - it’s chocolate!)  Serve this on Father’s Day and you’ll have more time to fuss over his steak & potatoes.

This cake recipe has been all over the internet, but my friend Pat shared it with over 500 women at our Stake Women’s Conference in March.  Anyone who took a forkful was immediately hooked.

If the cake (by itself) isn’t enough to win you over - just try it with this wonderful hot fudge topping (with a drizzle of hot caramel for good measure)

It’s amazingly simple because of the use of those good old “convenience” foods - a cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream, and chocolate chips. It’s truly uncomplicated.  It bakes up moist and chocolatey...so good.

The first time I made it, I was obsessive about making sure it didn’t stick to the bundt pan.  I greased & floured my pan - which wasn’t necessary at all.  But, you know your pan better than I do - adjust accordingly.

As you can tell - I experimented with serving the cake standing upright, or resting comfortably on it’s side in a serving dish.  Both work well - but if you want more room for toppings to seep into the rich cake - let it recline in order to soak up all those calories.

I loved discovering chocolate chips in each bite - that just put it over the top.

Pat garnished hers with her signature rich whipped topping - which only made it better.  But it’s delicious without.  The cake keeps well for over a week (if it lasts that long...)
