Personal Size Berries 'n Cream Parfaits

Somehow, having a personal size dessert (all to yourself) makes a meal memorable.  Making ahead keeps preparation simple - no last minute assembly required as people are waiting for dessert.  Layer in  pretty clear dishes to show off the layers of fresh berries, tender pound cake, and pastry cream.

This dessert idea utilizes three recipes that are some of my favorites.  Like a good marriage - when you combine each of their unique traits, the result is better together than apart.

Satiny Pastry Cream is so easy to make, utilizing a unique way of keeping cornstarch from forming lumps when heated.

Make-Your-Own Danish Dessert is an economical way to reproduce the well-known delicious red pudding/glaze/topping that is so versatile during  berry season.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake (from yesterday's post) is another delicious staple to keep in your freezer for when you need a fast dessert.

Summer berry season will soon be a distant memory - get fresh berries while you still can...
