Almond Poppy Seed Bundt Cake - a walk down memory lane...
In my family - we love movie quotes... One of our favorites is in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, where Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos falls in love with Ian Miller. When the Miller's show up to meet her family - they present them with a Bundt cake. Whenever we enjoy a Bundt cake - it is required to quote this movie!
If you grew up in the 70’s - you were no stranger to bundt cakes. Today there are many bundt pans available - in every shape and size imaginable - but you can no longer find bundt cake MIXES... This recipe will take you back in time to the days of having a true Bunnnnddddtttt... cake (why was it so hard to pronounce?) for dessert when women wore aprons and children actually sat at the table with you... Miss those days!
As you can probably tell - I’m a fan of all things “almond” - I just love that heavenly flavor in my recipes. I found this recipe as I was browsing through the KSL5 website... It is photographed dusted in powdered sugar - which is fine, but I’m a FROSTING gal, and a “dusting” just doesn’t cut it for me! So mine is literally drowned in almond glaze... This was a hit in the break room at the LDS Conference Center where I give tours. The cake is firm, easy to hold in your fingers, wonderfully moist, and satisfyingly sweet. Enjoy!
And - just in case you are not familiar with this favorite movie quote, enjoy the YouTube clip above this post...

This looks really good! I'm trying to plan the menu for a brunch in February and I've put this on my list to try out.
